    The City of Vacaville's Public Relations Manager is responsible for serving as the City's primary community engagement and media liaison, of which duties include:

    • Response to requests for information including coordination and dissemination to the media, community groups, and the general public or designates another information source.
    • Facilitates the accurate coverage of issues by the media through the development of public relations and public information delivery strategies. 
    • Arranges promotes, and participates in public events sponsored by the City; organizes activities, displays and exhibits which foster understanding and good will.
    • Prepares script and represents the City; plans release strategy, and prepares and delivers speeches; coordinates media relations; consults with advertising agencies to arrange for promotional material.  
    • Assist in the development of the City's brand and style guide; recommend and implement changes to the City's brand; enforce adherence to the City's brand and style guide.
    • Prepares written articles, news releases, web pages, and various other material for internal and external audiences including employees, community groups, and the general public; selects, edits, and coordinates material for publication; coordinates communication efforts; designs or recommends designs for brochures and other material, including developing specifications, photographs, layouts, placement, and coordination of printing and distribution.
    • Plans and conducts public opinion research and surveys to determine interest and communicates results to management or staff; identifies trends and monitors public information legislation, advises on trends and makes recommendations; provides guidance and technical support regarding public relations, public affairs, and media relations to the City Manager, City Council, other staff and/or policy making groups as appropriate. 
    • Organizes and updates emergency public information communications strategies during a local disaster; monitors results and communicates news to management and others. 
    • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees, community groups or representatives, and the public using principles of good public relations and customer service; acts as liaison with the community and represents the City at meetings; performs related duties as assigned.
    • Oversees the production of the City's public education channels; coordinates and monitors the production process to ensure communications programming is effective, meets goals and objectives; confers with production and support staff; provides technical assistance; manages production contracts.
    • Manages the City's website, home page, internet and intranet content; oversees the creation and maintenance of a useful, information-rich web site, and ensures that pages clearly and accurately describe City activities and issues; establishes best practices and guidelines for maintaining the web site; manages electronic communications, such as social media.
