The City of Vacaville values its youth, and wants to protect children and preserve families, assuring their safety and healthy development. One of the ways we reach that goal is through a variety of services and agencies both at the local and county level.

In Vacaville, The Youth Roundtable serves as a clearinghouse for various organizations and agencies in the area to assist youth and families with issues they might be facing. The Vacaville REACH Coalition was formed after the city received a generous grant for the Sierra health Foundation. One of the goals of REACH is to connect with youth in underserved populations of the City of Vacaville through various activities and outreach.

AWARE – Advocating for Wellness, Adolescent Recovery & Education - is a community coalition that meets monthly to discuss and implement strategies and programs to reduce the rate of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use among Vacaville teens. AWARE is made up of community members and agencies, including Vacaville Unified School District and is funded by the City of Vacaville Police Department in partnership with the Solano County Board of Supervisors.

Other programs designed for youth include: ATOD - Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs - prevention programs that work in conjunction with a variety of other city, community and school sponsored programs; GOTCHA, a recognition and reward program for Vacaville students who excel academically by making good choices; Parent Project Classes & Proyecto de Los Padres, a 10-week parenting class offered in both English and Spanish, which gives parents concrete, concise tools to change any negative or unwanted behavior; The Children's Nurturing Project and Welcome Baby Programs welcome newborns to the Vacaville Community by providing food, information, books, and supplies to babies and their new parents; The Nurturing Program for Parents and their young children is a 6 or 8 week parenting class which focuses on helping parents of children, ages infants to five, bond with their families.
