Disaster Preparedness
Although no one looks forward to the devastation of earthquakes, floods, fires or terrorism, we should all be prepared for such eventualities. The Vacaville Fire Department trains continuously in order to be ready to assist the community in the event of a disaster, and we strongly urge every family to be prepared as well. The City has prepared a Disaster Preparedness page to assist you in what to expect before, during, and after a local disaster.
As you look around this website, you will find tips in our Safety Information section on topics such as CPR and using fire extinguishers. We invite you to check out the links to other government agency websites checking out our Useful Links.
Right now would be a good time to go to the Homeland Security’s website for terrorism readiness, where you will find information regarding safe drinking water, creating a disaster preparedness kit, and an evacuation plan for your home.
Earthquakes
Vacaville citizens should also be prepared for earthquakes, what to expect during and after a quake, and what to do beforehand to be safe and reduce damage. The United States Geological Survey, in conjunction with the disaster-relief organizations, geological research groups, and various government entities, has created an informational handbook on living with earthquakes in the San Francisco Bay. The handbook provides information about the threat posed by earthquakes and explains how you can prepare for, survive, and recover from these events.
Before you leave the City of Vacaville’s Fire Department website, please bookmark it or put it in your favorite places so you can easily return to our homepage when you are finished with the any other websites.
