The City of Vacaville is currently in the process of developing an Arts and Culture Master Plan, which will address policies and the vision for arts and culture, public art, and cultural engagement experiences in Vacaville. The planning process is being managed by Designing Local, an arts and culture planning firm. 

This plan will include the following phases: 

• Discovery
• Community Engagement
• Synthesis
• Plan

Weaving Our Future: Community Art on Display

In August 2024, more than 100 community members participated in "Weaving Our Future," a community art workshop series led by local artist Angela Arteritano. Six workshops were held, one in each of the City's districts, along with an optional take-home option for those unable to attend in person. This art project engaged community members by asking participants to share their vision for the future of the City of Vacaville and how public art can contribute to that vision. Community members were asked to express themselves via words, drawings, and shape extraction. Artist, Angela Arteritano took the community's vision and combined elements from each submissions using dyes and punchwork creating "Weaving Our Future," a unique tapestry that was displayed in the lobby of the Vacaville Performing Arts Theatre (VPAT) during the performances of "Carmen" in September 2024. This breathtaking tapestry reflects the creative voices of our community.
