The maintenance of Vacaville's parks is held to specified standards, or Performance Measures. Those Performance Measures include the following:

If my sidewalk is cracked or raised, whom do I contact?

Call the Maintenance Division at (707) 469-6500.  Staff will investigate the sidewalk complaint and advise the resident of the findings.  Per the City's municipal code, sidewalks which require repair are the property owner's responsibility, unless the damage was due to a City tree within a parkway strip or the settlement of water and sewer utility services. 

Sidewalk Repair Subsidy Program

To report a street light maintenance concern, whom do I contact?

Call the Public Works Maintenance Division at (707) 469-6500.  The City and PG&E each own and maintain approximately half of the City's total number of street lights.  Maintenance Division staff will investigate your concern and take appropriate action.

Weeds are a fire and health hazard, especially during certain times of the year.  The City of Vacaville has established a weed abatement program in which certain public areas of the city are trimmed and cleaned by the Public Works Maintenance Division.  These areas are abated on a seasonal basis, with some locations put on a routine maintenance schedule.  Weed trimmers, mowers, hand equipment and in some cases larger equipment are used in the abatement process. 

In April, the City's Public Works Maintenance Division typically begins it annual weed abatement program.  Weed abatement is performed through a variety of methods including cattle grazing, mechanically (by tractor mower) and hand-weeding via string trimmer. 

Weed removal is required by state and local law and is managed by the City's Code Enforcement Division.  Weeds on public or private property can be reported to Code Enforcement at (707) 449-5693.

Maintaining the City's water distribution and sewer collection is the job of the Field Utilities Maintenance section of the Utilities Department. Crews of this section are available 24 hours per day to provide timely service and response to emergency situations. Their work includes the repair and maintenance of water mains and sanitary sewer mains. Preventive maintenance operations include the flushing of mains and hydrants, and routine video inspections of the sewer mains. This section also handles utility identification and location through Underground Service Alert (USA).

• What if I need to do a repair on my water line?

  If the section of water line that you need to repair is located between your house and the water meter, contact the Finance Customer Service Division at (707) 449-5128 to have your water turned off/on at the meter. If the leak is beyond the shut-off valve, located at the foundation along the front of your house, you can turn that valve off to make your repairs.

• Who should I contact about a water leak?

   The Maintenance Division at (707) 469-6500 will respond to meter leaks, service leaks (on the City side of the meter), hydrant leaks and leaks in the street. Any leaks from the meter to and within the house are the responsibility of the homeowner.

• If I am experiencing water pressure that is too low or too high, who should I call?

  Call the Maintenance Division at (707) 469-6500.

• What if I have a plugged sewer line?

  The Maintenance Division at 469-6500 will clear your sewer lateral from the cleanout located behind the sidewalk to the main. The homeowner is responsible for the lateral from that clean-out back to the house.

Informal Bidders List

Pursuant to the California Uniform Public Construction Cost Accounting Act (CUPCCA), the City’s Public Works Department maintains a list of qualified, licensed contractors for inclusion in bid solicitations for informal bid public construction projects (up to $200,000).  The City advertises for this list on annual basis.  Contractors that wish to be included in informal bid solicitations may register with the City at any point in time by visiting the following link:  https://cityofvacaville.formstack.com/forms/informalbid 

To be considered for placement on the Bidders List, Contractors must be able to demonstrate their ability to meet the City of Vacaville’s insurance requirements, hold a current contractor/specialty license for the trade(s) they are registering for, have a minimum of three years of experience performing comparable work in their specified trade, and be able to meet all Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) requirements related to registration and submittal of certified payroll records.

Please be advised that submission of an Application Form does not guarantee placement on the List or that the applicant will be informed of, or included in, all requests for proposals (“RFP”) or bid requests. The City will issue notices to bidders, RFPs, or bid requests to qualified bidders on the List based on the category of work being bid, and/or announce project opportunities in designated trade journals and on its website.
