Black and White image of the I-505 Vaca Valley Overcrossing built in the 1970s

The interchange, which was built in the 1970s, has seen little change despite significant development on both sides of I-505 and the connection of Vaca Valley Parkway to Leisure Town Road at the I-80 overpass. While some minor enhancements, the addition of signals at the northbound off-ramp, have taken place as the surrounding area has grown, there are currently no provisions for pedestrians, cyclists or people with disabilities to cross the interchange. Currently, there is a 1,700-foot gap between existing bicycle and pedestrian facilities situated on the eastern and western sides of I-505 along the Vaca Valley Parkway corridor.
