Fighting Trash at its Source

     

    Where:  Rocky Hill Trail across the street from the Trower Boys and Girls Club

    When: April 20, 2024 9:00 -11:00 AM

    What is typically brought: friends, family and a happy hardworking attitude. Close toed shoes, clothes for getting dirty, and water. More details below.

    Waivers: Due to these being a multi organizational event (California Coastal Commission, Solano RCD and more), Waivers will be required for participation: 

    You may choose to print and sign the full page waiver or the or print and sign the multisignature waiver.

    Registration: There is no official registration for this event.  Volunteers are always needed.

    Things to keep in mind when cleaning up an area:

    • To record data, and reduce paper waste, download and use the CleanSwell App.  The data collected is used to educate and motivate change.
    • Wear closed toed shoes.
    • Stay hydrated.
    • Try to use reusable trash collection items (e.g. buckets) to reduce the amount of trash generated during this event.
    • Wear gloves to separate you from the trash you are picking up.
      • For general trash gardening gloves or latex/nitrile gloves are sufficient,
        • If you are concerned about pointy things with sharp edges, use leather gloves.
    • Be careful of homeless encampments.
      • They may not be safe, and need to be documented by the appropriate city personnel.
    • Be safe. The person that is ultimately responsible for your safety, is you.
    • Please share your clean-up crew pictures by e-mailing sourcecontrol@cityofvacaville.com for use by the City on social media, the website, newsletters, etc.
