    Never pour household hazardous waste down the drain, dump it on the ground, or dump it into a storm drain.

    What is household hazardous waste?

    If you are ready to throw out an unwanted product, check the label first. If a product is hazardous, it will probably have one of the following words on its label:

    • Danger
    • Warning
    • Caution
    • Poisonous
    • Combustible
    • Corrosive
    • Toxic
    • Flammable

    You can also use Recology’s WhatBin tool to look up any item to see if it qualifies as household hazardous waste, or look at a list of common hazardous waste items.

    What do I do with household hazardous waste?

    Take household hazardous waste to the Recology Vacaville Recycling Center for recycling and disposal:

    Vacaville residents can drop off accepted items at the facility every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Bring a valid photo ID or a Recology bill (along with ID) as proof of residency. 

    Businesses may drop off hazardous waste by appointment.  To make an appointment, call 1-800-207-8222.
