WATER EFFICIENT LANDSCAPE REGULATIONS
The City of Vacaville has established standards that regulate landscaping for new construction and the modification of existing landscaping. These standards are available in the Municipal Code Section 14.27.
WATER WASTE PROHIBITION REGULATION AND ORDINANCE
State regulations and City ordinances currently discourage, and when applicable may levy fines upon, anyone using potable water in any of the following manners:
- Hosing off sidewalks, driveways and other hardscapes.
- Washing vehicles, equipment, structures or other items with hoses not equipped with a shut-off nozzle.
- Using non-recirculated water in a fountain or other decorative water feature.
- Irrigation in a manner that causes runoff.
- Irrigation during, or within 48 hours of, measurable precipitation.
If the City’s local ordinance is enacted, residents may be subject to fines of up to $500 for violations of the above water waste prohibitions, as established in the City of Vacaville Municipal Code Section 13.20.
In addition, residents and businesses who waste water in one of the manners listed above may also be in violation of stormwater pollution regulations. For more information on stormwater pollution click here.
