Hello and welcome to the City of Vacaville! Our community of over 100,000 people has retained a strong sense of character and “small town” charm. It’s most obvious in our historic downtown, but you can feel it everywhere as residents offer a friendly hello, hold a door open for you, or waive you through a stop sign. As Vacaville’s City Manager, I have a responsibility to our residents, visitors, and businesses that I take very seriously. Retaining our character and being service-oriented and responsive to the needs of our customers is my highest priority. To this end, the door to the City Manager’s Office is open to all.

The City Manager’s Office day-to-day tasks include providing general administrative direction, leadership, and coordination of all City operations, enforcement of City laws and ordinances, and development of effective short and long-range City plans. We are responsible for implementing City Council policy direction and ensuring that City programs and services are efficiently and effectively provided. Our office includes a variety of additional functions ranging from Americans with Disabilities Act coordination, Information Technology, Economic Development, Budget preparation, and Public Information.

Additionally, the City Manager’s Office is responsible for fostering a positive image of Vacaville. To that end, the City Manager serves as Chief Staff Liaison, working closely with other governmental and non-government agencies in neighboring cities, the County, and the State to ensure that good community relations are maintained.

Vacaville is home to Genentech, the largest biotech manufacturing facility in the world, along with several other biotech and pharmaceutical firms. The City has a proactive Economic Vitality Strategy that strives to retain local business and enhance our job base by bringing in high quality jobs for our residents. In addition to the high quality of life fostered by our land use policies and services, our residents enjoy living in one of the safest, friendliest, and most generous communities anywhere.

We’ve got one of the best recreation programs around with activities for people aged 1 to 100! Our downtown is thriving, with a full calendar of activities throughout the year including the CreekWalk Concert Series, Farmers Market, and the annual holiday tree-lighting event we call Merriment on Main which attracts thousands of people. A myriad of shopping opportunities can be found at the Vacaville Premium Outlets, the Nut Tree, Power Plaza, and other shopping areas throughout the City. We also proudly boast the Vacaville Performing Arts Theatre, a fantastic venue which hosts a variety of entertainment options throughout the year.

An engaged City Council, a wonderful staff, and caring, concerned and involved citizens work together to make Vacaville the wonderful community it is today. Thank you for visiting our website!
