The City's Urban Water Management Plan (UWMP) is a planning document that guides the City in ensuring adequate water supply for future growth of the City, including during multi-year droughts. The UWMP is updated every five years in compliance with the Urban Water Management Planning Act (California Water Code §10610-10657). The most recent update was adopted by City Council on June 8, 2021.

The plan compares available water supplies with projected water demands over the next thirty years, and evaluates the reliability of the City's diverse water supply sources. The UWMP also incorporates the City's Urban Water Shortage Contingency Plan, which outlines progressive steps the City will take to provide sufficient water supply during drought years or other water shortage emergencies.

The current UWMP is available for public review online (see below) or during regular business hours at City Hall in the City Manager's Office or at the Utilities Department Administrative Office.
